    Metro Fire adds Parts Clerk position

    Effective yesterday, Monday April 18th, 2011, Steven Boulet joined the Metro Fire family of employees. Steven has 5 years of service with the City of Houston as a Senior Parts Clerk and Inventory Control Manager.  Before his employment with the City of Houston, Steve worked in the automobile parts industry.  Gaining experience as a parts counter clerk with multiple car dealerships in the South East Houston area he’ll bring a new insight to our parts sales.

    Steve is already set up at our South Houston 02 facility and will be responsible for the following duties:

    • Maintain parts inventory by verifying supplies; and placing orders when order points are reached.

    • Stock items by unpacking, arranging and placing them on shelves; adjusting inventory system.

    • Interacts with Service and Sales Departments for obtaining parts for ordering.

    • Takes customer orders by listening to and clarifying requests; identifying parts; offering and explaining alternative solutions.

    • Monitoring various City websites and bid solicitations to take advantage of parts requests.

    • Timely responses to customers phone calls, e-mails and/or written request.

    • Promote and increase the sales of fire truck and loose equipment parts.

    • Making sales calls to end users, such as city maintenance shops.

    • Parts runner, taking parts to city maintenance shops on as needed bases.


    Steve will be taking over the parts sales calls from Laura and Fred at 02, after he is settled into his new position he will also relieve Robbin’s inside parts sales duties from 03.
